Pro Athlete Disability Insurance

Professional athletes can purchase a disability insurance policy to protect themselves from a career ending injury.

The policy pays a lump sum if the player has an injury that ends their career. The benefit amount is based on the player’s income and contract.  The premium is based on the athlete’s gender, age, sport and benefit amount.

Players in the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, NASCAR, WWE, MLS can all purchase a policy once they have a contract. NCAA players must be highly ranked with a high probability of being drafted. Otherwise, players may purchase a policy once they have a contract in hand.

Other athletes such as boxers and UFC fighters may also purchase policies.
