Set for Life Insurance is proud to offer discounts on individual disability insurance for employees affiliated with University of Miami. This includes University of Miami Hospital. All employees, including physicians, medical residents and fellows, CRNAs, medical students, executives, nurse practitioners and any other employees have access to these discounts.

Discounts available offer a 20% discount off the non-discounted rate. Additionally, the rates are unisex, saving women significantly; approximately 60%. Men save approximately 20%.

In addition to the disability insurance discounts available to employees affiliated with University of Miami, spouses are entitled to a 10% discount as an affiliation discount. The spouse does not need to be employed by University of Miami.

To obtain the discounted rate, applications must be submitted through the Set for Life Insurance office. If you are a graduating medical resident of fellow, applications must be submitted prior to your last day at University of Miami Hospital.

The policies are all noncancelable, guaranteed renewable. They include the best available definition of disability covering you if you can’t work in your occupation or medical specialty. Other riders available include residual, COLA and catastrophic rider. The policy provides the ability to increase coverage in the future as your income increases without further medical underwriting.

The minimum size policy is $1000/month benefit. With a $1000/month benefit you will still be eligible to purchase up to $15,000/month benefit in the future.

The policies are subject to medical underwriting. This includes an application, phone interview and paramedical exam (blood and urine test).
